If you’re a high school senior looking for a gorgeous outdoor location for your senior pictures in Albuquerque, New Mexico, you have to check out Bachechi Open Space! It’s one of my favorite spots for capturing beautiful, natural portraits — especially in the spring when everything is in bloom.
Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a St. Pius High School senior at Bachechi, and her gallery turned out absolutely stunning. Between the variety of scenery and perfect golden light, it reminded me why this location is my favorite year after year.
🌸 A Versatile Location with So Many Looks
One of the things I love most about Bachechi Open Space is how versatile it is. During this session, we were able to photograph three completely different looks in one spot — no driving around town needed!
- Look 1: A white, flowy dress surrounded by lush greenery and delicate pink roses.
- Look 2: A fun pink two-piece set in front of blooming lavender and open fields.
- Look 3: A fitted pastel yellow dress set against tall grass and softly lit fields for those dreamy, golden hour portraits.
Every corner of Bachechi Open Space offers a new background — from flower gardens to open meadows to rustic trails. It’s perfect for seniors who want a mix of romantic, playful, and natural outdoor vibes in their gallery.
🌦️ Why Flexibility Matters for Outdoor Sessions
Like many spring sessions in New Mexico, we had to reschedule this shoot multiple times because of unpredictable weather — hello, windy afternoons and surprise rain! But when we finally landed the perfect clear, sunny day, it was so worth the wait.
That’s one reason I always recommend planning your senior session early, so you have time to work around the weather and get the lighting you love.
🎓 A Special Celebration for a Future UNM Lobo
This senior will be continuing her journey at the University of New Mexico, so of course we had to capture a few shots celebrating her next chapter. It’s always so fun getting to document such an exciting season for both the senior and their family.
We had a great time hanging out with her and her parents during this session, and I couldn’t wait to share a few of her favorite images from her final gallery.
