As we gear up for a fresh new year, it’s the perfect time to say goodbye to some outdated practices in senior photography. Here are five things to leave behind in 2024:
1. Showing up without a plan: Going into a session without a plan can lead to missed opportunities for great shots. Collaborate with your photographer to brainstorm ideas and create a vision for your session.
2. Over-Editing: It’s important to look like yourself in your senior pictures! Every senior deserves to see their true self, complete with natural skin texture and tone. Hire a photographer who embraces those unique qualities and focuses on authentic results without excessive editing.
3. Ignoring the Details: Sometimes, it’s the little things that matter! Focus on capturing the details that represent your high school journey—like your favorite book, musical instrument, or sports gear.
4. Forced Poses: Stiff, unnatural poses tend to create awkward photos. Opt for a more relaxed approach that allows for candid moments and genuine expressions.
5. Not Printing your Photos: If you only get the digital files, those precious moments might get lost in the cloud or on your computer in a digital sea. Instead, consider investing in a stunning senior album or beautiful wall art to celebrate this special time in your life.
