The night before your session, follow these 5 quick tips to wake up with a flawless portrait perfect face:
1. Use a super light exfoliator or exfoliating mask to remove any dead skin cells and soften your skin’s texture. Stay away from abrasive exfoliators like fruit pits, seeds, and nuts in your chosen product.
2. Paint on a hydrating mask and let it sit for a while to ensure that your skin is plump and glowing the day of your session. Don’t forget to apply a final moisturizer to top off your regimen.
3. Consider slugging as the final step of your skin routine the night before your session. This involves slathering your face with an occlusive product to trap your facial products and moisture on your face and prevent them from escaping. The most recommended product for slugging is Aquaphor.
4. Chapped and dry lips are not a great look for your senior photos. To avoid this issue, brush your lips vigorously with your toothbrush or use an exfoliant like a lip scrub to remove the dead skin from your lips. DO NOT pick your lips as this can cause breakage and bleeding.
5. After exfoliating your lips, slather on a super moisturizing lip ointment and/or balm to lock in moisture. Sleep with your lip ointment on to wake up with super healthy looking lips.
*It’s best to try these tips several weeks before your session to make sure they won’t agitate your skin. It’s also a good idea to discuss these tips with your dermatologist and/or aesthetician as they know your skin best.
